Abundance Chinese New Year Food Offerings at Resort World Genting

Looking for sumptuous Reunion dinners for a family get-together or a meeting with business associates and guests during this Chinese New Year ? Why not, pay a visit to Resort World Genting as from 6th January to 6th February, special CNY Reunion Promotions are offered at Genting Palace (2nd Floor, Genting Grand), Ming Ren (Level 2, Maxims) and Imperial Rama (Level 2, Maxims). Me and my Little Angel were invited for the food review and to see what Genting Palace had in its menu for these special days.
Salmon Yee Sang
To start of, we had Lucky Salmon "Yee Sang". "Yee Sang" is a symbolic of good luck, prosperity and all things auspicious. The popular custom is for all round the dining table to toss the ingredients high in the air with joyful exclamations of "Loh Hei" (Toss high). The significance of the tossing is to wish for abundant luck and happiness for all.

You can choose to dine-in the "Yee Sang" with other meal or just take away. There are 3 kioks selling it i.e. Genting Palace, Good Friends Restaurant and Hainan Kitchen. Salmon and Tuna Yee Sang priced at RM138.00 nett for Large and RM82 nett for small, Hokkaido Scallop Yee Sang (198 nett for Large and RM106 nett for Small) and Abalone Yee Sang (RM488 nett for Large and RM248 nett for Small).

At Genting Palace, guests can choose from two menus. Menu 1 is priced at RM1,600 nett for a table of 8 to 10 peoples which comprise of Lucky Salmon Yee Sang, Double-boiled Free Range Chicken with Black Mushrooms Consomme, Steamed Lampang Patin with Ginger, Japanese-style Salt and Pepper Prawns, Simmered Spare Ribs in Red Wine, Stewed Rice with Mince Meat and Scallions, New Year Pancake with Shredded Coconut and Chilled Sea Coconut and Aloe Vera.

Menu 2 also priced at RM1,600 for a table of 7 to 10 peoples which comprise of Prosperity Yee Sang with Japanese Tuna opens the meal, Ginseng-infused Free Range Chicken Consomme, Steamed Tiger Grouper with Traditional Preserved Vegetables and Shrimp, Mongolian-style Baked Pork Belly and Ribs, Braised Dried Seafood with Longetivity Moss, Fried Rice with Fresh Shrimp, Sweet Corn and Diced Vegetables, Chilled Sweetened Aloe Vera and Gingko nut with Korean Pear and New Year Pancake with Red Bean and Shredded Coconut.
After the honey melt, big and delicious Pan Fried King Prawns can be seen. Yummy yummy yummy...
Special CNY Set Menus are available too at Genting Palace where seven sets are offered starting from RM499 while Ming Ren (Level 2, Maxims), 2 sets are offered starting from RM498. At Imperial Rama (Level 2, Maxims) with prices from RM1,988, Good Friends (Level 2, Maxims) offers two sets starting from RM288 and at Resort Seafood Steamboat (Level 1, Resort Hotel) is another place offering set menus with 2 options starting from RM688. Ala Carte CNY specialities are also available at Seasons, Lobby Floor, Genting Grand and at Hainan Kitchen on Level 2 of First World Plaza.

Prosperity Reunion Meals at Ming Ren (Level 2, Maxims) with promotion priced at RM1,800 for a 10-course meal for a table of 8 to 10 peoples for 2 of its Menus. Menu 1 consist of Prosperity Salmon Yee Sang, Crab Meat and Baked Fish Maw Bisque and Macadamia Nuts, Steamed Marble Goby in Superior Soya Sauce, Steamed Organic Chicken with Dong Qui, Wasabi and Thousand Island Prawn Duo, Braised Fresh Mushroom with Sea Cucumber, Deep-fried Seafood Beancurd served with Thai Chili Sauce and Wild Ginseng Jelly with Aloe Vera.
Steamed & Baked Mountain Chicken with Chinese Herbs & Red Dates at RM168 nett per nos
Menu 2 offers Prosperity Salmon Yee Sang, Double-boiled Dried Seafood and Mushroom Soup, Signature Grilled Lamb Ribs, Braised Assorted Seafood with Oyster Sauce, Steamed Organic Jade Perch with Red Chili and Garlic, Deep-fried Prawns with Salted Egg Yold, Stir-Fried Organic Chicken with Ginger and Chinese Wine, Braised Homemade Beancurd with Fish Paste and Luffa, Stir-fried Organic Brinjals with Garlic and Peppermint-scented Almond Beancurd. 
Steamed Preserved Meat with Arrowhead Fried Rice priced at RM45 nett per order
For an elegant atmosphere, you can choose Imperial Rama with 2 CNY reunion menus priced at RM2,000 nett for a table of 8 to 10 peoples. Menu 1 offers 8 dishes, namely Prosperity Salmon and Mango Yee Sang, Superior Shark's Fin in Bone Broth, Steamed Marble Goby in Superior Soya Sauce, Wasabi and Salted Egg Prawn Duo, Steamed Free Range Chicken with Rock Salt, Braised Abalone and Dried Seafood Casserole, Steamed Rice with Waxed Meat in Claypot and Lemongrass Jelly.
Sweet Osmanthus Jelly at RM26 nett per order
Menu 2 includes traditional favourites like Buddha Jumps Over the Wall and Crispy Suckling Pig with Beancurd Sheets, Prosperity Salmon with Mango Yee Sang, Baked King Prawns with Cheese and Salted Egg Yolk, Steamed Marble Goby in Superior Soya Sauce, Organic Vegetables with Shallot Oil, Steamed Rice with Waxed Meat in Claypot and Almond Beancurd Pudding.

Coffee Terrace on the Lobby Floor of Genting Grand also hold a special CNY buffet spread from 7th February to 11th February with traditional dishes like Fatt Choy Yee Sang, Roasted Duck with Chinese Herbs, Deep-fried Crispy Prawn with Salted Egg, Stir-fried Chai Coy, Steamed Stuffing Cabbage Roll, Variety of Noodles, Deep-fried talapia with Butter and Steamed Stuffed Cabbage Roll with Dried Scallop. Price at RM98 for Adult and RM49 nett for Child.

At Rajawali Coffee House at Lobby Floor of Awana, dishes like Fried Crab with Chili Sauce, Squid Kam Heong-style, Gold Prawn Fritters with Special Salad Sauce, Lamb Shoulder Teo Chew-style and Wok-fried Beef Mongolian-style are presented. Available only for dinner on 7th February and lunch and dinner on 8th and 9th February, the lunch buffet is priced at RM49 nett (adult) and RM24 nett (child) and dinner buffet at RM65 nett (adult) and RM32.50 nett (child).


At Resort Seafood Steamboat on Level 1, Resort Hotel, guests can opt for either the menu costing RM688 or RM888 for a table of 10. RM688 offers Salmon Yee Sang, Tom Yam Soup and Chinese Soup, Grouper Slices, Smoked Turkey Breast, Grass Prawns, Crabmeat (unbreaded), King Oyster Mushrooms, Eggs, Chili Fish Balls and Noodles.

RM888 delivers Abalone Yee Sang, Tom Yam Soup and Chinese Soup, Australian East Star Grouper, Smoked Turkey Breast, Grass Prawns, Crab Meat, Sui Kow Dumplings, King Oyster Mushrooms, White Beancurd, Vegetables and Noodles.

Pineapple Tarts are sold at Resort World Genting from 16th January to 22nd February which make excellent gifts or for own enjoyment. Look for them at the various kioks stationed at Genting Palace (Level 2, Genting Grand), Good Friends Restaurant  (Level 2, Maxims) and Hainan Kitchen (Level 2, First Floor).
