If there's one food of 'foreign nationality' that should be gazetted as Malaysian's national food, I without a doubt would vote for pizzas to be our national food. Why? Well, read more to find out why me and my Little Angels think that way.

1. Pizza may have originates from Italy but ever since Pizza has made appearance in Malaysia, the recipe has changed to suit the Malaysian palates. Some of our pizzas are spicy and a tad exotic. We have Sambal Ikan Bilis Pizza, Nasi Lemak Pizza and even Durian Pizzas! Isn't that cool? 

Our pizzas are unique and well diversed. Can you honestly say that you'll have Sambal Petai or Durian Pizzas anywhere else in the world? Of course not. You can only have it in Malaysia!

2. Almost no Malaysians can live without pizzas. Ask anyone in any household. They would definitely tell you that they will order pizzas at least once a month or during special occasions like birthdays or anniversaries.

3. Pizza is usually ordered when busy moms like me needs a respite from cooking in the kitchen. Pizzas has long kept Malaysian moms sane and gave us plenty of rest when we desperately need it.

We feel emotionally miserable cuz we suddenly crave for our favourite food like Pizza to 'keep us company' us during all our drama marathons but making efforts to go out and be stuck in a roadblock and being interrogated by the police when all us want is just buy some comfort food is simply a turn off. 

So, what do you normally do? All we wanted is just some simple Pepperoni Pizzas or Margherita. And maybe some comforting mushroom soups and garlic bread to go with it. But going all out for it is not something we're willing to do right now. So, what do we do?

School Holiday Trip at Gloria Residences Genting Highlands

Just few days left before 1st term of the school holiday begins. Any plan yet ? If not, you might want to discover a new place to stay at Genting Highlands. Mommy Jane and Little Angels went for a 3 days 2 nights staycation at Gloria Residences last weekend and at this post, I will share out our experiences during our staycations.

Gloria Residences Ion Delemen is located at Genting Highlands. Surrounded by one of the world's oldest rainforests and approximately 6,000 feet above sea level, it takes approximately 45 minutes from KL City Centre by car and 90 minutes from KLIA. From the Genting City of Entertainment and First World Plaza, the property is only 10 minutes away, a great place for a short getaway for family and friends.

Mommy Jane and 4 Little Angels went to Gloria Residences Ion Delemen Genting Highlands after work on Friday to check-in for a 3-bedroom apartment. Since my eldest Angel, CM is having exam starting from Mon, she opt to stay at home with maid to study and go for tuition instead. I feel proud of her for her commitment in her study.

There are a total of 332 elegantly decorated service residences from Studio to 4-Bedroom Penthouse. The units are exquisitely furnished in elegant and stylish decor with distinctive amenities, facilities, kitchen and each unit also has their own individual balcony overlooking the breath-taking view of the rainforests and mountains while enjoying the cool atmosphere.

Kitchen facilities were provided too if you plan to cook at the Apartment. Drinks like mineral water and packets drinks are free. Complete toilet utilities i.e. cotton buds, shower cap, soap, comb, toothbrush, toothpaste, disposable bedroom slippers, Italy imported hair shampoo and body shampoo for our convenient are provided at each unit. Every unit also have their own Microwave, hair dryer, fridge, safe deposit, bathrobe and towels, a perfect place to stay with family and friends.

Sharing the video of my apartment as below. As you can see, the apartment is spacious and clean and comfortable for 6 persons to stay. Me and Daddy occupied the master bedroom, CW and WJ occupied the 2 single beds while WH and WT occupied the queen size bed. 

What are the facilities provided by the 5-star boutique hotel ? Do find an indoor heated swimming pool, indoor heated Jacuzzi, 24-hour state-of-the art gymnasium, kids' playground and 24-hours kids' club. My Little Angels love swimming at the heated swimming pool, relaxing dipping at the jacuzzi pool, warm-up themselves at the Sauna room after swimming and playing at the indoor playground at the Kids' Club. Breakfast is complimentary for all the hotel guests. My Little Angels said their breakfast is the best coz' not all hotels provided chicken feet as breakfast and my Little Angels love it so much. Ha ha ha !!! Pau, dim sum, freshly baked bread, nasi lemak, meehoon, fried eggs, tofu, fish, curry chicken, porridge, red bean, soup, salads, cereals and many more. 

As for our lunch, we went to Kembali Kitchen for our buffet but ala-carte menu is available too. Their bbq fish, salted egg squid, herbal chicken soup are delicious. Be pampered with the sweet desserts and longan tong sui too.

If you're looking for a tea-time session, then head over to Fairy Tales Cafe. There are 3 choices of the Hi-Tea set i.e. sweet, savories or a combination of both. The set is ideal for 2 pax. We chose the combination of both to try it out. My Little Angels love the Macaroon, Open Egg Sandwich and Scone and Jam while me and Daddy prefer Velvet Cheese Tart, Smoked Chicken Quiche and Tomato Bruschetta. All servings come with Premium Pickwick Tea choice of Black English Tea, Black Earl Grey Tea, Green Tea & Lemon, Green Tea & Jasmine, Infusion Peppermint and Infusion Chamomile. Price per set at RM114.   

For dinner time, we wanted to try something unique and something different. We chose to dine-in at Dinetopia. Dinetopia give us a 360-degree Cinematic Dining experience. A unique 3/4-course culinary journey interpreting the perfect blend of art, gastronomy and multi-sensory projection technology. There are 3 sets available for 3 different theme i.e. Magical (3-course) at RM180 nett per pax, Enchanteur (4-course) at at RM235 nett per pax and Miraculous (4-course) at at RM299 nett per pax. Red Wine, White Wine, Beer, Cocktail, Mocktail, Fruit Iced Tea and Soft Drinks are available at a separate charge from RM15 to RM186 per drink.

Sharing out at our Magical theme of fine dining experience. As starter, we were served with Thai Mango Salad with Blun Nam Dressing and Romaine Lettuce. Light and refreshing taste to start our meal.

Our main course is Chicken Roulade with Caramelised Onion served with Ribbon Acar and Asam Pedas. The chicken stuffed with roulade is incredibly tasty. The Asam Pedas sauce is not too spicy and dip with it, the meal is perfect.

Our dessert is special and this is the first time we taste it. The Italian desserts, Deconstruct Tiramisu Infused with Sour Plum is unique and refreshing. The dessert is in sweet and savoury taste infused with coffee, layered with fresh creams and salted caramel and filled with fresh berries. An awesome twist on our tastebud.

The extra-ordinary dining experience is transformed and lifted into a whole new level. Each experience matches the culinary delights served. We enjoyed the meals surrounding the backdrop. The experience is the first of its kind as we engage to our senses as we dine, the perfect place to enjoy our dinner..

Moving on to the exciting activities, the swimming pool and the mini water park at  Swiss-Garden Beach Resort Damai Laut are clean and has a pleasant view of the sea. While our kids are playing at the water park, we as parents could just sit to relax ourselves at the bench provided facing the sea while listening to the sea wave for a relaxing moment.

Besides the swimming pool at the resort, there is a swimming pool at Swiss-Court Holiday Apartments too. We could rent a Swan or a Unicorn float from RM5 per hour. During the school holiday season, Swiss-Court Holiday Apartments will organize some swimming activity for our kids. There was an instructor who taught and guided our kids to swim for free.

We could also rent a bicycle to cycle around the resort. Other sports activities include Darts, Table Tennis, Basket Ball, Tennis Court, Soccer and American Pool Table are provided for free at Swiss-Court Holiday Apartments. As we travelled during the school holiday season, Swiss-Court Holiday Apartments had organized colouring contest for kids. If you wish to relax in a dry heat, head over to their complimentary Sauna room which located near to the swimming pool.

How about the night activities then?

There are few activities that we could do at night i.e. we could go for night fishing. It is a fantastic fishing experience for my Little Angels. This is their first time and they enjoyed it so much that they ask me to bring them there again. In fact after our check-out, we drove to the fishing area for our 2nd time fishing experience.

While my Little Angels enjoyed the fishing, Mommy Jane and Daddy James could enjoy a romantic lunch set up by our SGI Vacation Club at only RM100 with food and drinks are provided. If you wish to have a romantic dinner, you could request for it too but subject to availability as it is part of the special holiday promotion. 

After night fishing, we went for a Karaoke session which located at our Swiss-Court Holiday Apartments for a singing session.

As for breakfast, lunch and dinner, we enjoyed our dining experience at the Garden Terrace which located at Swiss-Garden Beach Resort Damai Laut. This restaurant is fully air-conditioned and adorned with contemporary furnishing. The interior elaborates refined concept of pastel that stimulates a calming effect while dining in comfort. You could choose for an alfresco dining experience nearer to their beach at their cover terrace. Garden Terrance serves a wide range of ala-carte and buffet meals, from Asian to Western cuisines.

As the resort is located near to the beach area, their seafood is very fresh. My Little Angels loved the fresh and juicy prawns so much. They have tiger prawns, fish, lambs, beef, mussels and desserts daily at their buffet. During our trip, we enjoyed the all-you-can-eat Steamboat BBQ buffet. On that night, there is a beautiful firework display at the beach area after our buffet.

In the morning after our breakfast, we went for a jungle trekking to explore the beauty of the nature. Lead by Zulkefli, the Apartment Manager of Swiss-Court Holiday Apartments, he brought us for a walk to the jungle. Since my Little Angels are complaining coz' there are lots of mosquitoes biting them, we decided to have a little tour of half an hour instead. Nevertheless, it is a good experience for them instead of living a comfortable life at the City. Ha ha ha !!! 

After jungle trekking, Zulkefli, the Apartment Manager of Swiss-Court Holiday Apartments gave us a tour around the golf area with the buggy ride.
