Bricks 4 Kidz

We learn, we build and we play with LEGO Bricks... That is the slogan for Bricks 4 Kidz ("B4K"). Given the opportunity by Butterfly Project and B4K for Mom Bloggers, me, Sherry Go and Celeste to cover an educational and development benefits for B4K. What is B4K ? It actually is a child enrichment centre which offers essential education programmes to complement children’s existing curriculum at school. Founded in the United States of America (US) in 2008, B4K programmes have since been internationally recognised in 16 countries worldwide and over 300 locations in the US and now B4K has established four centres in Malaysia for the first time – in Sri Petaling, Sunway Giza, Petaling Jaya and Cheras, to effectively combine education with play.

“Besides developing their creativity and imagination, learning with LEGO® bricks also helps children to develop sequential problem solving skills, advance their spatial and relational thinking, enhance EQ, foster teamwork as well as social and emotional skills, and nurture process-oriented thinking. The focus and patience required to complete their weekly projects will certainly help them to believe in their abilities and to have the confidence to overcome any challenges that may come their way. These are essential life skills that will shape their formative years until well into adulthood,” explained Mr Demitrius, Managing Director of Creative Child Development Sdn Bhd and Master Licensee of B4K.
He continued, “Classes and modules at B4K are age-specific. For four-year olds, classes are conducted at the centre using LEGO® DUPLO® toddler building blocks, while five and six year-olds have the option of participating in B4K’s on-site and off-site mobile programmes held at kindergartens or community centres. On top of that, classes using set project kits at the centre are offered to those aged seven and above.”

At every B4K centre, children will have access to 130 proprietary B4K subject lessons that are designed to enhance their knowledge of the principles of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). Following set project kits and model plans, each lesson bears a different and exciting theme such as Space, Inventions, Famous Buildings and Amazing Animals where children learn to design and build using LEGO® bricks. For example, for children to learn about the Laws of Motion such as inertia and mass, they would have to design and build a clock or see-saw out of the LEGO® blocks. It is through this building process that children will come to understand and apply the concepts better.
Furthermore, as most children will undoubtedly love playing with LEGO® blocks, learning about basic engineering and mathematical concepts through them will certainly encourage the children to be interested in science as well.

A friendly teacher, Cik Siti taught WT who is in 4 year old class on how to build an Octopus. She explained to WT on where Octopus come from and characters of an Octopus before they start building Octopus using lego.

WT masterpiece of works. He learned that Octopus had 8 legs and it'll spray out something like blue ink from its mouth if it encounter any enemies to protect itself.

We have Ms Lisa Ong who is Sales & Marketing Director of B4K to teach my 3 eldest Angels on how dragster model works and the different between race car and sports car.
My 3 Little Angels with Sherry's son listen attentively to the lesson given by Ms Lisa.
She then gave the children a project kit for each group to start with the dragster model. CM and CW in a group while WH with Sherry's son in another group. They were given a manual booklet to look on the way of building their own model.

After half an hour, ta da... CM & CW had completed their assignment and their dragster now is ready to go for a race. They are so exciting and cheer up when their model car start moving. On your mark, get set and go...
Thanks to B4K for giving my children box of Legos to play with and for them to practise at home to build something from their imagination as it'll help my children's EQ, increase their ability to solve problems and to increase their confidence.
I had learned something useful from here that Lego really helps children to learn while having fun. So, this is the time that I should start playing Lego with my children at home as they touch and feel to learn things. Lego not only suitable for children as adult love it too. Taking lessons at B4K will train children a new way of building knowledge and skills with good interactions.

Parents can also sign their children up for any of B4K’s many holiday camps, where they will be able to push their creativity and imagination to the limit within a high-energy, fast-paced setting, together with their peers. Additionally, parents can send their children with fun-filled, engaging field trips and/or organise special B4K birthday parties on their special day.

With such a variety of exciting and fun-filled educational activities at B4K, children can indeed learn, build and play their way into a bright and successful future ahead!
