Spend the day with the Mutley Crew

Last Saturday morning, me and my Little Angels were invited to spend the day with the Mutley Crew to understand the pet care programme. Mutley Crew handles all the stray dogs and cats at SPCA Selangor in a mission for working towards Stray Free Malaysia.
Lorna Fisher, COO for SPCA Selangor
Mutley crew is a ream of staff and volunteers working hard together for the causes in animal wellfare. Hundreds of thousands of pet dogs and cats are born into the world each year by unlicensed, unregulated, unofficial breeders, whose motives are often very questionable. Some of those newly born go on to suffer horrific abuse, some are used for entertainment and many are severely neglected, or simply left somewhere, abandoned to fend for themselves.

Stray cats and dogs remain as one of the key issues that many communities face today. Strays are usually the result of abandonment of pets which pet owner no longer can manage. SPCA Selangor stands strongly in advocating Trap, Neuter, Release and Manage ("TNRM") program in these communities and have in 2014 successfully carried out many of these TNRM projects all over the Klang Valley.
Most of the crew at Mutley was volunteers
SPCA Selangor launched the Pet Care Program under its Education banner to help people of all ages go through a program of understanding animals, as responsible pet owners towards "Creating Happy Healthy Pets". This program has seen many children and young adults become more confident around their pets.

A Buffday party for a puppy with cakes and muffins. So cute...
SPCA Selangor is moving into a new ERA and will continue to focus on Education, Rehabilitation and Adoption. Interest in the Pet Care Programme ("PCP") is growing; the Junior PCP was launched in December to commence courses in January 2015. SPCA K9 Good Ambassador is growing quietly and will be pushed more once they're in the new Centre.
Congrats to the doggie for receiving a K9 Good Ambassador Certificate from Lorna
Take up the Challenge and have fun with your furkid and win a medal by letting your dog be an ambassador for all dogs, help dogs to be a pleasure to be with, an asset to own and never a nuisance to neighbours of the community.

My Little Angels with the dog up for adoption
It was indeed a great education for my Little Angels to love and protect the animals. They were taught on how to shake hand with a dog, touch it and love it. After the lessons, my Little Angels brave themselves getting near to the animals. They enjoyed their session very much. I hope with this lessons which instill on them when they're young, they'll grow up to be a better person and to be a person that willing to love and share...

  8. Such a worthy caused! Especially for the christmas season, where many animals will be bought from pet stores for christmas presents, and then abandoned a few months later. People should never get pets from the pet store!
