Breakthrough's Energy on the Edge, a Preview Screening host by National Geographic Channel and Petrosains

Did all of you know that natural sources exist all around us ? For your information, it could come in the shape of a tornado or even an ancient lava rock. To know more of it, National Geographic Channel (NGC) partner with GE present the new series Breakthrough, produced by Imagine Entertainment and Asylum Entertainment, a team of scientist and their work in finding and harnessing renewable and sustainable energy take centre-stage inthe Energy on The Edge episode directed by Academy Award-winning writer/director, Akiva Goldsman.

The series will be air at National Geographic Channel (Astro Channel 553) and National Geographic Channel (Astro Channel 573) will premiere the Energy On the Edge episode on 5 December at 10.00 pm and as a special treat, a preview screening event held in collaboration with Petrosains at Petrosains at KLCC, Kuala Lumpur. Me and my Little Angels were invited to join the preview.

We able to see the innovations and advancements from solar-powered parking lots and sidewalks by husband-and-wife, Scott and Julie Brusaw to how Delaware's Dogfish Brewery shows how even the most unlikeliest of elements such as garbage, manure, whiskey, beer and dairy waste can be used to create biofuel with the technology developed by them.

Also featured how Engineer, Louis Michaud harnesses energy from tornadoes with the Atmospheric Vortex Engine while the Iceland Deep Drilling Project manager, Bjarni Palsson taking a step further with building a well that will tap directly into molten magma, which will create as much as lectricity as six steam wells. At the University of Syracuse, geologist Jeff Karson and artist Bos Wysock have begun to harness energy from volcanic materials. The duo of Karson and Wysock reheat lava rock from an ancient Wisconsin lava flow until it becomes molten. It is the only place in the world that creates its own lava for experimentation. The team will craft an experiment demonstrating the raw power of lava's heat, especially when it comes up against water and creates steam.

There is always a risk of fire or explosion if a source of ignition is present.
Lesson to learn is, don't ever smoke at the Petrol station coz' it might explore and everyones' life will be at risk

I think that what is important is that everybody continues trying to find the next step so that the shows are really about the ability of individuals trying to change the world."
A Birthday boy trying to blow off the candles
But it'll light up again coz of the material added to the wick that is capable of being ignited by the relatively low temperature of the hot wick ember.
When is is blogwn out, the wick ember ignites this material, which burns hot enough to ignite the paraffin vapor of the candle. The flame you see in a candle is bruning paraffin vapor
Petrosains staff had to used water to put off the fire instead
He concluded, "Ten years ago I think we would have all looked at each other and said nuclear fission is clearly going to be a solution and yet we still can't quite do it. I would say that if we don't continue to try, there will be no solution."

  23. The demonstration is so nice. It must be tiring for the birthday boy to blow out the candle. I wonder what happened to the cake after the water take place in order to blow out the candle entirely.

    1. Aein, the boy blew 3 times and give up. This cake is fake one. Guess for the real cake, they need to cover it so that oxygen will not get in as fire need oxygen.
