Wow...
4 Awards Winners at The Kid from the Big Apple. Congrats to all of them
The Kid from the Big Apple is a story of a 12-year old girl named Sarah who was born and raised in New York City. As Sarah's mother has to relocate to China for a few months on a work assignment, she has no choice but to turn to her estranged father back in Malaysia for help in looking after her daughter for these few months. To a contemporary youngster like Sarah, raised in the Big Apple since birth, Malaysia seems like all her worst nightmares come true.
Jess, Director of the movie taught Tan Qin Lin who act as Sarah on how to gave the best action for the movie
Sarah feels isolated and lonely at the beginning of this chapter in this strange and new place. Living in one of the group apartments with her grandfather, Sarah hides her insecurities underneath and treats her new neighbours as though they are truly beneath her.

Influence by a group of friendly neighbours around her age and in a period of time living under the same roof with her grandfather, it slowly opens Sarah's hearth to the strangers she finds around her. From there, Sarah comes to learn and understand the reasons why her mother and grandfather care so much about their cultural traditions.

The movie reflex the current growing global phenomenon where the Elders see the younger generations as eyesore because of their "westernised" (wild or care free) behaviour and poor moral's. Whilst the youngsters on the other hand, have no time for their elders. It is the intention of the Director to tell this tale in a witty, comical and sadness manner and by doing so, she hope that this true life story will touch the audiences' heart.

A production of Three Production Sdn Bhd, this movie is supported also by main sponsor Mah Sing Group, honorary sponsors FINAS, Malaysia Airlines Berhad, DoubleTree KL and McDonalds Malaysia. Mah SIng foundation had collaborated with the film in order to raise funds for notable causes which include financial assistance and relief schemes for the poor. To be part of the raising, any photos taken from the movie with hashtag "#MahSingBigApple", Mah Sing will donate RM8 for every post at the instagram. So, do your part now to help those in need.

"Grandfather and Grandmother are like Stars, not always seen but always there" a meaningful caption at the movie that reminds us the importance to be with family
Malaysia born singer, Bell performed the movie theme song along with the young casts
that received huge applause by the crowd
After watching the movie, my personal opinion is, the movie was full of ups and downs and suspense. You will filled with laughter, sadness and wondering what might had happen to Sarah's mother. The movie ended with happiness and reminds all of us the value of being together with our family. I'll definitely bring my Little Angels to watch this movie so that they'll know their traditional cultures well and the importance of family and friends.
