Refurbish Consumer Electronics, CompAsia Expand its International Markets to Philippines

Leading IT Asset Disposition ("ITAD") Company, ComputerAsia Sdn Bhd ("CompAsia") is set to impact the refurbished consumer electronics market in Philippines with the opening of a newly-built ITAD facility located in its capital city, Manila. Mommy Jane was invited to the press conference at Windmill Restaurant which located at Shah Alam AEON Mall to witness the announcement.
CompAsia operated its first facility in Petaling Jaya in late 2012 to reinvigorate and impact the ITAD industy Asia-wide. It undertake to secure data removal, repair, rebuild, refurbish and remarket used consumer electronics such as laptops, desktops, servers, PC monitors, tablets and smartphones. The refurbished machines and devices are then sold directly to consumers via its optimised online retail store (www.comp-asia.com) and its distribution channels located nationwide.
In its efforts to become one of Asia's leading and trusted suppliers of professional-refurbished IT and telecommunications equipment, CompAsia had expanded to Singapore and now to Philippines.
"Our Philippines move today can help consolidate our regional strategy which is to expand into the international markets to become a leading ITAD provider in Asia," said Julius Lim, Founder & CEO of CompAsia.
Julius Lim, Founder & CEO of CompAsia
"The new ITAD refurbishing facility in the Philippines is custom-built like our Malaysian facility to undertake comprehensive ITAD services such as secure data removal in compliance with global standards for data cleansing and environmental regulations. We also undertake diagnostic and quality assurance tests to ensure that the refurbished consumer devices and PCs are thoroughly evaluated and restored under similar stringent quality standards to make them fully functional and ready to be sold at a much more affordable price compared to a new one of similar make. Reconditioned to an almost new appearance, our professionally refurbished machines and devices also come with warranties ranging from 1-3 years. Our aim is to push up the standards of the ITAD services and the refurbishing industry sector in the Philippines too," Lim emphasised.
Mr Koh Mun Thay, Vice President/Country Head CompAsia Philippines
The Company also announced its collaborative effort with Versatech International Phl ("Versatech"), a renowned IT distribution company in Philippines to help consolidate its ITAD market. Versatech has the necessary established distribution channels and a deep understanding of the secondary electronics market there. The collaboration will strategically expand their regional footprints and capabilities in this fast growing re-use consumer electronics market Asia-wide.
Mr Stephen Yu, Managing Director of Versatech International
Mr Stephen Yu said, "Versatech will provide the right depth and expertise to effectively market CompAsia products to consumers here who are looking for quality refurbished PCs and personal consumer devices. Our ultimate goal is to deliver optimal customer experience for CompAsia's refurbished products and to ensure CompAsia's brand is viewed positively by all major consumer market places in Philippines".
"Refurbishing is about renewing and restoring to a new and better condition and appearance. However refurbished equipment is not necessarily defective or it may be just second grade. When we refurbish our PCs and consumer devices, we carefully examine the components, upgrade, replace or repair the non-working parts before sending them for a thorough cleaning process. Our professionally-refurbished products are of high standards as the refurbishing process is professionally conducted by our in-house team at both our facilities," explained Lim.
CompAsia had also set up to champion a green IT strategy that promotes extending the life cycle of consumer electronics in order to reduce environmental risk. They believe an easy, cheap and environmentally-friendly way to recycle PCs and consumer devices is to simply re-use them instead of discarding and adding them to the growing mound of computer equipments waste. They strongly feel re-using them is a great technology choice that can help reduce the overall impact on the environment.

Samsung Galaxy S4 was sold at a normal price of RM1,426.00 in the market but at CompAsia, the refurbished price at only RM499.00 now. There are available in black mist, blue arctic or white colour. All the refurbished consumer electronics are much much cheaper now than the new one. With the same function, refurbished electronics are getting great support from the local community in order to save more in terms of money and environment. Best thing is, all the consumer electronics sold by CompAsia which looks like a new one, had a 1 year warranty and a year warranty for cracked screen protector.

Thanks to CompAsia and CatJira for the invitation to the press conference. It is great to know that CompAsia had did their part in savings our environment by Reduce, Reuse and Recycle the consumer electronics. With the refurbished electronics, more and more peoples can afford to buy all the devices at an affordable price and with the same function. Since my Little Angels had demanded a Samsung S4 for them, I must well buy the refurbished S4 from CompAsia. Don't think they know the different and Mommy Jane could save more now while protecting our environment.

  8. This is sooooooooo good. I always feel like it is a waste to buy new phone, like car, the price depreciation is just nuts. and if drop or stolen.. omg.. i will die... so now this is a good way. don't have to feel so guilty... the models not so new but still good enough since they give warranty.
