March is the month of Nutrition. Everyone should eat healthy food and do some exercise everyday to stay healthy always. To encourage healthy eating, Prince Court Medical Centre ("PCMC") or you could find them at FB here https://www.facebook.com/PrinceCourtMC, had organise a cooking competition for participants to cook a healthy and yet delicious meal. I took up the challenge and send them the reason and 2 weeks later they send me an email saying that I am one of the 5 finalist. Hooray...
The event started at 10 a.m. but we reached there around 9.15 a.m. to have our breakfast and to warm up a bit with the environment there. Me, my Mom and CW formed a goup. 3 generations in a group. Cool, right ? Our group name was NutriPrince which I had created from the month of Nutrition at PCMC. Since there were marks given dressing creatively, 3 of us dress in black colour t-shirts, scarves and chef hats that I prepared a day in advance.
There were opening remarks by Datin Farah Bi Da Khan, Manager of Lifestyle and Modification Centre and cooking competition briefing by Chef Hamidon, Ambassador Chef of F&B Services before the competition started. All of us had to choose the envelope that consist of a number to our table. I got table no. 2 and we had to cook a nutrition meal using chicken. Some group had to cook fish, beef, seafood and mutton. All participants had to prepared a starter, a main dish and a desert in 2 hours time.
My Mom was the Master Chef of our group since she had been cooking for more than 50 years and I always love the food that she had prepared. I as a group leader helped my Mom to write down the menu, choose the vegetables, cut the vegetables and fruits and also taste all the food. My daughter, CW helped out to cleaned the table area, prepared the serving plates, poured out the soup and peeled the potatoes. She had done a good job helping us around. Bravo, CW. Mommy really proud of you...
Our dishes was simple but yet full of nutritious. Our starter was ABC soup which consists lots of tomatoes, carrot, potatoes, onions and some chickens. Our main dish was yummylicious potatoes chicken as potatoes was a very good source of
vitamin B6, potassium, copper, vitamin C, dietary fiber and variety of phytonutrients that have antioxidant activity. Our desert was sweet Pumpkin soup. Yummy yummy yummy....
