When I was in primary school, almost 30 years ago, my Grandma stayed at Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman. My Mom always brought us to took public transport i.e. bus and we stop at Chow Kit Road to buy things before we walked to my Grandma house. So, I consider myself quite familiar with the place there. The development at that area really amaze me with LRT station just in front of my Grandma's previous house and now Quill City Mall, the latest prestigious landmark along Jalan
Sultan Ismail in Kuala Lumpur which is just walking distance. Maybe thats the reason why I always take note of the development there. The opportunity came when I was invited as media to cover Quill City Mall's grand launch as that is the place that reminds me of my childhood...
Quill City Mall celebrated a very grand launch on 18 January 2015 in a colourful splendor. It was held
on an auspicious day bearing significance to the mall's lot number - Lot 1018. The event was officiated by YB Dato' Seri Mohamed Nazri bin Abdul Aziz, the
minister of Tourism and Culture Malaysia.
Kuen Cheng High School Wind Orchestra and Kuen Cheng High School 24 Seasonal Drum bands together with the 18 lion dance troupes added to the merriment. The Minister was welcomed by Dato' Dr Jennifer Low, Group
Managing Director, Dato' Michael Ong, Group Executive Director of the Quill
Group of Companies, and the Kuala Lumpur Mayor, YBhg Datuk
Seri Hj Ahmad Phesal Hj Talib was also present on that day.
In conjunction with its grand launch, Quill City Mall had a hive of activity throughout the weekend to celebrate its status as a major shopping, dining, entertainment and leisure destination for locals and tourists alike...
At the top of the agenda for the opening ceremony included performances by Malaysian Singer Candy Ice, Quill Hip Hop Dancers, Flash Mob, Bubble Artist Jeff Leong and a special showcase by K-Much, a K-Pop group who had released their debut mini album 'Beyond the Ocean' in January 2014.

In his welcome speech, Dato' Michael Ong, Group Executive Director of the Quill Group of Companies said,"This is a new icon in the heart of

City Mall's unique features include the first-ever sky alfresco dining experience in Malaysia with breathtaking views of the surrounding cityscape. It had a specially designed roof made of multi-cooured glass and opaque panels to maximise natural lighting. The roof complements the overall aesthetics of the mall, with the effect of a floating cloud above the alfresco terrace, setting a refreshing scene of the KL skyline for patrons as they shop and dine.
The mall's frontage contains a facade which is the longest in the country at over 200 metres, created to complement the surrounding commercial area and neighbourhood to complete Kuala Lumpur's thriving city centre. Visible from all areas of the mall is another first in Malaysia i.e. a floating media pod in the form of a 2 level space that projects live broadcast of events, advertising and promotions, creating different moods within the mall, while helping to bring the extended community together with shoppers through exciting events and initiatives.
