Millennial's Guide to Parenthood Journey

Parenting journey is amazing but it is never easy. How we can become a millennial parent who gives our child a life worth living ? In order to get some helps from the expert and advisor, Mommy Jane attended the Millennial's Guide to Parenthood workshop on last Sunday which was organised by the Parenthood in collaboration with Nippon Paint Malaysia and Sunway Medical Centre that highlighted various hot topics relevant to today’s parents with our young children.
How to Manage The 5 Most Common Children’s Illnesses- the Common Cold, Hands Foot and Mouth Disease (HFMD), Influenza, Diarrhoea and Dengue ? Consultant Paediatrician Dr. Cham Weng Tang who delivered the talk went in depth about the cause and effect of each of the 5 illnesses, which are common and yet preventable. He also highlighted how our walls (which are often overlooked) can be a medium of transmission of viruses and bacteria. Need to do some prevention after this to avoid all these top 5 most common illness.

How to Handle Picky Eaters and What Parents Can Do ? I'm sure this is our favourite talked amongst parents. Dietician Celeste Lau gave some tips on how to differentiate a picky eater versus a problem eater. She also shared how to handle picky eaters and how we as parents can introduce a wider variety of food selection in order for their child to thrive and grow.
After Dietician Celeste Lau talk, we had a delicious buffet lunch and a break for an hour....
Dato’ Dr Rajbans Singh, President of Malaysian Wellness Society, spoke on the topic of Indoor Air Wellness. Our indoor air pollution can be 2 to 5 times worse than outdoors. With harmful pollutants all over the home, and in places one would never have thought off, he mentioned that this could affect our child’s health in the long term. Dato’ Dr. Rajbans also shared some steps on how we as parents can take positive steps to improve indoor wellness which starts from home. Really need to start cleaning the house now. Ha ha ha !!!
How to Bring Out The Best Potential in Your Child ? Ms. Sam Jeng Mun who is a clinical psychologist ask the parents to take some time to take an assessment that determined their type of parenting style. We were given a better understanding about our own personality. Ms. Sam also elaborated on the 4 types of parenting styles and how the particular style may affect their child mentally. Erm... Really need to change a bit on my parenting styles to suit my Little Angels' needs and for them to grow independently.
