SuperHero BootCamp by Kids Art Lab

Every kid learns effectively in a different way but there is one thing in common i.e. all kids love to have fun. If we as parents and the teachers can make learning fun, kids are more likely to develop a lifelong love of learning and acquire the knowledge better. How to make learning a fun way for our kids ? Mommy Jane recently registered my 2 Little Angels aged 7 and 10 years old to attend a SuperHero BootCamp organised by Kids Art Lab at Sunway Velocity, Cheras.
The first SuperHero BootCamp was held on Sunday, 28th July 2019 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and limited to 30 seats only at the price of RM30 per child. We brought along our yoga mat, stationery, crayons and colour pencils. Snack and drinks are provided. Registration opens 30 minutes before the event and closed 10 minutes before the event start. Include my 2 Little Angels, there are 15 children who joined the first camp.
At the beginning of the lesson, they had a warm up session where the children will introduce themselves and had their name tag stick at their shirt. Even the instructors i.e. Sameeta Kaur and a volunteer to become her assistant on that day, Dr Glenn Sy had their names stick on their respective blouse.
Sameeta Kaur, the Founder of Kids Art Lab
Sameeta Kaur graduated in Bsc (Hons) Medical Imaging at University of Teesside and MBA with Merits from University of Nottingham. She worked with Forbes listed companies across Asia Pacific in Healthcare filed. She noticed that Creativity is either dying or not being fully utlised. Hence, she developed a programme for children with the hope that creativity is used to help children to think better, be more focused and use it as a channel to express emotions in a positive manner. This skill will also help the children in their studies and also in adult life.
Each and every participant had the chance to describe their feelings through the art pieces from the various cards

The class started with an emphasizing how art speaks out. Each and every children have to describe their feelings through art. Besides art, we could also write. For this purpose, they used various cards with art pieces to describe the feelings.
After that, they had meditation to put the children mind at ease lead by Sameeta and body stretches lead by Dr Glenn Sy to move their muscles and increase the blood flow to their body.
Grounding session that encourage participation of each and every kids

The children had Grounding session to help them to understand the purpose of the bootcamps and how they can benefit from it. The role of Sameeta as mentor to the children and the children roles as students. Grounding also helps to examine one state of mind.
Gallery walk with their partner
The purpose for the Gallery walk is to ignite discussions with their partner to gather their own thoughts and getting to know each others' likes and dislikes. It is also a ice breaker for them to understand their partner well. My youngest angel, WJ had a fun time chatting with his partner and to understand their thoughts on the art at the wall.
At the BootCamps, they used Accelerated Learning ("A.L."). It is the most advanced teaching and learning method in use today. It's a total system for enhancing both the design process and the learning processes. It has also proven to increase learning effectiveness in a natural way of leaning. A.L. unlocks much of the potential for learning that has been left by most traditional leaning methods. It actively involves the whole person, using physical activity, creativity, music, images, colour and other methods designed to get children deeply involved in their own learning.
The Children are encourage to draw at the places that they feel comfortable with
Children have to use their creative thinking to draw the Superheroes in their mind and the story of their master art piece

At Kids Art Lab, the science of art is more than just drawing and painting. It includes creative writing, public speaking, poetry, drama etc. Art is actually a fusion of intellect, creativity and confidence. The acy of being creative is the key and it can help in bringing calmness, composure and the most important is as a medium for expressing oneself constructively.
Who, How, Where and Why. All these questions will help you to create a story of every art
The children don't need to be an artist or writer or even a poet to benefit from doing these activities. The children need to have the right guidance from them at Kids Art Lab by Virtual Health Angels.
After the children completed their master piece, they brave themselves to tell the stories of their arts. Every child have the chance to express themselves and show their creativity in presenting their stories.
The children enjoyed the interactive session and they got to ask their peer presenter too if they have any queries
Every child have their own different stories and their creativity in story telling starts when they have to interpret their stories through the art that they had created
SuperHero BootCamp is suitable for children aged 6 to 12 years old. If you're interested to let your children to join the SuperHero BootCamp, they will have another session on this Sunday, 11th August 2019 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Sunway Velocity. Price is the same at RM30 per child only for a half day camp. 35% of their revenue will be reinvested back into Virtual Health Angels in providing care for patients with Dementia. Meaning when we pay for our child to attend the camp, we are donating part of it to help Dementia patients too. A good deed while letting our child to have fun by learning through art.
The last session of the camp is having fun with "Simon Says"...

Mommy Jane loves the way the camp had been conducted. It encourages participation of each and every child in creativity, imaginative and express out their feelings without any fear. It helps to build their confidence and develop their skills in drawing, painting, story telling and public speaking. With a minimal fee of RM30 per child, it is a good camp for our child to explore their inner talent and learning in a fun way which will helps them in their growing up period.
